Umbrella in the rain

Hi crafty friends and welcome back to our crafty space. Raluca here with a new card using some cute critters stamp sets.

Sometimes we have moments when we feel that the rain would never stop and the sun is gone. In those moments we find out that our friends are our umbrellas in that rain. They will protect us until better days will come.
So I wanted to make a card that would show this idea that I had in my mind.

First of all I prepared the background panel by ink blending some Distress Inks for the sky and grass. Then I die cut and glued a few white clouds. Next step was to stamp and color the images that I wanted to use and fussy cut them. I colored the images with my Nuvo Creative Pen sets from Tonic Studios. I also stamped some little flowers for a more springy look. Then I stamped the sentiment on a white banner. Next, I adhered everything on the panel and the panel on a white card base and my card was done.

The adorable hippo knew how to make the day better for the cute, but sad monkey because that's what true friends do. I hope you'll have someone like this in your life when you'll need it and that you would also be the hippo to one sad monkey someday.

Cannonball Layout!

Hi there!
Samantha here and today I'm sharing a layout!

It's been a hot minute since I've created a layout, and when I came across this photo of my boys jumping in the pool last summer I knew it was time!

So let's make this layout!

- using Distress Inks (Peacock Feathers), I smooshed the ink pad onto a piece of old sticker packaging, spritzed with water and then smooshed THAT plastic packaging onto my white cardstock.
- once it was dry, I stamped the "summer time" phrase in the same ink over the watercolored area

- my title uses the CUTE alphabet stickers in yellow, and I LOVE that it tucks right into that space between the two overlapping chipboard hearts!

- I used some white embossing paste and a stencil to create an abstract-y wave look
- I machine stitched a bunch of the elements, including the chevron enamel shapes! LOVE how this layout came together!

The same watercolor/embossing paste look can be created for cards, too! (Just don't include the photo! Ha!)

I used the Curvy Lines stencil for the faux waves! The mini stamp is from the Sending Sunshine Kit, and the letter stickers and enamel dots are from the Beach Party Kit! I used the chipboard Hearts as an embellishment and I LOVE them!

I am in LOVE with those letter stickers! And did you know that they come in a rainbow of colors?! Who doesn't love rainbows!? Ha!

For you, my friend!

Hi crafty friends and welcome to our crafty space. Raluca here with a new card showcasing the Funky Feathers stamp set.

I really wanted to make an elegant card using this set so I decided to try coloring on black cardstock with Nuvo Embellishment Mousse from Tonic Studios. I loved how it looked so I made this card.

On a black cardstock panel measuring 10×14 cm I stamped in VersaMark and gold heat embossed the outline feathers.

Then I took with a little spoon just a little of the Indian gold and Lemon sorbet Nuvo mousse and placed it on an acrylic block.
With a wet paint brush I took some of the mousse and started coloring. Such a beautiful shimmer and so elegant result. Loved it.
I colored all the feathers and then I added some splatters with the gold mousse.
For the sentiment I used the "Decorated Wishes - mixed add-on" set and I gold heat embossed the "for you" stamp on a black circle and from the "Just Saying Hello" set I stamped the "my friend" stamp and gold heat embossed it on a white strip.
I mounted the black circle with the sentiment on to a vellum circle and adhered everything on the panel. I glued the panel on a card base and added a few clear droplets and my card was done.

Happy easter # 3

Hi there it's Anja again and I hope you won't be bored to see another easter card again.

There is still time to join in our monthly challenge, LETTERS.
So I decided to use this challenge for my third easter card since I have a bunch of those lovely letter stickers in my stash.

I started with a horizontal white cardbase and stamped the images six time masking them each time. I sponged the background with some distress ink and colored the images with copics.
Adhered the letters to their belly's and drawn a line with a black marker. I also outlined the letters with the marker to make them pop.
Finally stamped the word happy and rounded the corners of the card.

Stamps;

Eggstraordinairy egghunt and Color your heart out.

Letter stickers;

You can use the alphabet stickers to from a sentiment or you can play with them like I did in this card. To highlight the letters you can simply outline them with a marker or even give them some shade with a colored marker.
Try to be creative and use them in another way.

Like I mentioned you still have time to join in the fun in our monthly challenge, so please do.

Have a great week;
Hugs Anja

Re-Making Old Cards

Hey crafters! Have you ever re-make your old cards? That's what I did today. This was a card I made back in October. Similar layout and general look but different technique. Read on for details :D

For my card in october, I used the solid triangle stamp and a bunch of stamps to create the background for this card. But this time, I used the outline stamp and colour it in myself. I stamped it using Antique Linen Distress Ink. This gives a very faint line.

I've also taped the border to keep the clean white border rather than adding another layer of cardstock.

I coloured the triangles in using, of course, watercolour. Watercolour gives such a random and beautiful texture to this flat card. I've mostly tried to keep one side of each triangle dark and gradient down to a light shade.

Add a simple bold die-cut sentiment and i'm done. I hope you'll give this technique a try.

Have fun!

Friends Like You

Hi there!
Samantha here again on the Create a Smile Stamps blog! And today I'm sharing a card inspired by St. Patrick's Day!

Since I knew I would be posting on St. Patrick's Day, I wanted to create a card using greens and things, but NOT make an actual St. Patrick's Day themed card! So I used the day as inspiration and made this! Love it!

I seriously love how this came out, so let's make it together!
- on a piece of watercolor paper, stamp your images with a permanent ink
- using Distress Stains in Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers, I randomly added the colors onto the leaf images!
- I let the colors dry on their own, and then added more colors on top - love the layers of color!

- once dry, I fussy cut out the leaves
- on a piece of white cardstock, I stamped part of the background stamp image in a light grey
- next, I arranged the leaves on the card and popped up my sentiment with some foam tape!

I colored this image with copics, but you could easily paper piece this image if coloring isn't your thing! It's so easy to cut out and that koala is just plain cute, no matter what! Ha!

I just HAD to use my favorite set EVER - Time to Say Thanks! It's my MOST used stamp set! Ha! I used that Color Your Polka Cling Stamp for a little bit of interest on the background!  And that BEAUTIFUL scripty and text-y sentiment is from the Friends Like You stamp set! LOVE this combination of sets!

Do you like to use stencils on your projects? I LOOOOOVE stencils! Create a Smile stamps has SO MANY amazing, and unique stencils! Be sure to check them out
